Theatre Arts to Present Fall Dance Concert

danceAlabama State University’s Department of Visual and Performing Arts is gearing up for its Fall Dance Company Concert, which will be held November 16-19 in the Leila Barlow Theatre beginning at 7 p.m. nightly.

The show will consist of choreography created and directed by three instructors: Michael Medcalf, James Atkinson and Kavin Grant. The concert’s finale will showcase “New Beginnings,” a work created especially for the class of 2017 by special guest choreographer Terence Greene.

The show also will feature a tribute to music legend Prince.

Tickets are $12 general admission and $8 for ASU students with valid school ID.

Opening night on November 16 is ASU Family Appreciation Night. All ASU faculty, staff and students can receive one free admission.

BFA in Dance

ASU is the only HBCU in the nation that offers a BFA in Dance. The program is in its fourth year and requires an audition for acceptance. The fall 2016 audition will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, the final day of the concert. Auditionees will receive free admission to the evening show.
